Space of Natural Beauty
For me, the Outer Hebrides are an area of outstanding natural beauty that is hard to beat. I have seldomly experienced such a charismatic and diverse space such as this remote piece of land on the West Coast of Scotland. Certainly, the ever-changing landscape leaves you speechless as soon as you immerse yourself in.
It is a pure heaven for a landscape photographer in this respect: mountains, beaches, moorland, cliffs and the endless ocean. All these subjects provide wonderful photographic opportunities. Moreover, what makes these sceneries unique is the extraordinary and dynamic natural light. Persistent winds and clouds often bringing both shattered rain and bursts of sunlight provide an enormous energetic environment. Therefore, the vibrant nature welcomes you to pursue creative photography in the outdoors.
Photography as an Art
I stood in the ocean in some heavy wind and rain, my camera on my robust tripod attempting to catch the waves as they hit the shore. To witness these moments, to be immersed in nature, to follow the movement of natural light, to literally feel your scenic picture, this is what landscape photography is all about. The moment when you and the landscape scenery merge together, photography becomes an art.
In my portfolio, I display a collection of my best scenery photos taken on the unique Isle of Harris. The landscape pictures cover the famous beaches of Luskentyre, Seilebost, Scarista and Huisinis as well as the North Harris Mountains. They are all taken with a rather minimalistic touch. I have tried to develop a photographic style which reduces landscapes to their core. Speaking differently, I try to capture the soul of a particular space. And to pursue this kind of creative photography requires a mindset of minimalism.
I hope you enjoy my captures from the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. It is a unique landscape full of charm and character marked by an ever-changing environment. It is an incomparable place which leaves you speechless.
